QUINTE WEST, ON – Thursday December 16, 2021: Beginning Monday December 20, 2021, proof of vaccination is required for youth aged 12 to 17 going to the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens.

Starting Tuesday January 4, 2022, staff will check vaccination status using the Verify Ontario app.  Proof of vaccination must include a printed or digital QR code. Vaccine certificates with QR codes can be downloaded at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof/

This will not be in place for this Sunday’s game against Lindsay; however it will be enforced for the GHawks home game Sunday January 9, 2022 against Haliburton County.

These additional requirements from the Government of Ontario could lead to longer wait times for admission to the facilities. Visitors to the facilities are encouraged to have their vaccine certificate with QR code and ID ready upon entry.

The City of Quinte West is also adhering to the restrictions for venues with capacity over 1,000.  The Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens will move to a ticketed capacity of 570 people (50% capacity).

Director of Business Tim Durkin says, “If fans require assistance downloading or printing the QR Code, we will be happy to help.  Email – goldenhawksbusiness@gmail.com .  We also wish to thank the leadership from Quinte West Council and Staff, with the focus of keeping residents, fans, volunteers and players safe."
